Tier-zero contraband includes any specific item that a department may need to control. While legal for possession by any Individual, they may be returned to the appropriate department upon valid request by a departmental head.
Tier-Zero items are all things that are ''not'' classified under the contraband law at round start. They are items that are “all access” and legal to carry by any single individual. Security and Heads of Department do have the right to confiscate any item under this list with a warrant that classifies the item as evidence, or a tool that is being used with intent to damage station property or harm station employees. If a member of security has probable cause to confiscate an item on the spot, they are authorised to do so as long as the probable cause can be proved. Upon being confiscated, they are to be held by security or returned to the most relevant department.

''The Chief Engineer requests that insulated gloves are returned to the department, therefore, they are now illegal to possess without the appropriate employment or permission.''
''An example: Someone aboard the station collecting a full toolbox worth of Tier Zero tools is legal without required context, no requests need to be made. However, that same person is found to be tampering with doors, and thus from that point the Tier Zero items used to commit this crime may be confiscated as they are being used to damage station property''

Tier-one contraband includes certain low-grade firearms and sidearms that certain departments may require; specifically Mk-32 Universals, Kinetic Particle Accelerators, and related salvaging equipment. Salvagers and related personnel are permitted to have this equipment at any time, unless otherwise directed by the Captain, Warden, or HoS. T1 contraband is illegal (without permission) for all Individuals who are not Departmental Heads, Logistics, or Security.
Tier One items are items that would require departmental access to get to. These items are considered legal to carry if you are from the department they are relevant to, or if you have made a verbal or written request with a member of that department for access to the items. Items of Tier One level can be granted without the approval of a Head of Department, however employees are expected to ensure they inform the Head of Department if present that they have passed on items that are Tier One. Items that are “borrowed” between departments in this tier are expected to be returned. Should they not be, the Head of Department (if present) is in charge of ensuring that the item does return. '''The Head of Department has the authority to ensure return of these items, and should only involve security with this matter if the borrowing party does not return the item on request.'''

''A salvager purchases Universals from Logistics — they have permission to use the firearm at all times, unless directly ordered otherwise.''
The Salvage team has a number of items that are an exception to this ruling, namely weapons and firearms used by salvage teams. Whilst these items befall a Tier One classification, as they are technically departmental items, overlap with what could also be considered Armory Tier Two Items pushes those items into Tier Two. Despite that, Salvagers are authorised to carry these items within their department or during salvage missions for the express purpose of doing their job as long as the Logistics Officer, or the highest ranking security member on station is informed.

''An example: A member of Epistemics wishes to borrow a Kitchen Knife from the Kitchen. The scientist visits the kitchen, asks the chef for the knife, and in that moment the chef decides to pass it over. There is a Head of Personnel present, so the chef informs over the radio that the scientist has borrowed the knife with intent to return.''

Tier-two contraband includes all Security equipment. Security hardsuits, longarms, certain sidearms, and Security gear are examples of T2 contraband. Command Individuals and Security personnel are authorized to possess tier-two contraband at all times. T2 contraband cannot be legally possessed by any other Individual(s), unless explicitly authorized by the Captain, Warden, or HoS.
Tier two items are items usually found within the Amory, Vault or within possession of the Heads of Department’s '''excluding''' the Captain’s items. These are items that are usually locked behind command access within departments. Anything on this list can be authorised for carry by personnel '''as long as it is authorised by a Head of Department, or someone with access to where that item is usually stored.''' Items on this list may be requested back by security at will and without a warrant, unless challenged by a written and signed licence provided by the Head of Department relevant to the item they are carrying.

Tier-two contraband also includes all Syndicate armor and all Syndicate firearms. Such firearms include but are not limited to: the Viper, and the C20-R. Syndicate clothing, however, does not classify as contraband.
Tier Two items are also inclusive of rival company’s items (such as syndicate war-gear) or dangerous items that have originated from outside of Nanotrasen space (such as blood-cult items) that are '''considered a threat to the company'''. These items are '''not''' permitted to be carried by '''any''' personnel, and must be secured within the Vault if discovered for collection by a Sweep team at the end of the shift. '''This does not include cosmetic or harmless items, such as corporate jackets or writing implements.'''

''An example: A salvager wishes to take a Tier Two firearm onto a Salvage Mission after they have already completed a few prior to this situation. They have been clearly performing well, and showing that they’re responsible. They request with the Warden to access a Tier Two firearm for their next trip, which the Warden authorises on the premise that they check back in with security after each trip, and do not openly carry the weapon at '''any point''' outside of their department.''

Tier-three contraband includes all Captain and Central Command equipment. These items are fully illegal for individuals to possess, unless they are:
Tier three items are items that should only ever be in the possession of Central Command, or the Captain. If non-authorised personnel are found in possession of Tier Three items, '''they are within immediate breach of the highest form of possession, and it should be a priority to ensure the recovery of these items'''. The Captain and/or Central Command Agents are within their right to pass authorisation of their items to another member of staff, however, they must ensure that it is recorded, signed and that Central are informed.

* A Central Command employee
* A Captain
* An elected Executive Officer or Acting Commanding Officer

Such items include but are not limited to: the Captain's sabre, the Nuclear Authentication Disk, and Central Command gear and uniform.
''An example: The Captain wishes to delegate a member of the Head Team to looking after the Nuclear Authorisation Disk. After conversing with each Head of Department, they delegate the Chief Engineer to be in possession of the real disk, and thus must have a document stating this signed by each present Departmental Head, before it is sent to Central Command.''

Note: This page is subject to large changes over the coming days. The wiki team is currently reworking contraband law.

Contraband can be classified into four tiers: T0, T1, T2, and T3 contraband.

T0 Contraband:

Tier-Zero items are all things that are not classified under the contraband law at round start.

An example: Someone aboard the station collecting a full toolbox worth of Tier Zero tools is legal without required context, no requests need to be made. However, that same person is found to be tampering with doors, and thus from that point the Tier Zero items used to commit this crime may be confiscated as they are being used to damage station property

T1 Contraband:

Tier One items are items that would require departmental access to get to. These items are considered legal to carry if you are from the department they are relevant to, or if you have made a verbal or written request with a member of that department for access to the items. Items of Tier One level can be granted without the approval of a Head of Department, however employees are expected to ensure they inform the Head of Department if present that they have passed on items that are Tier One. Items that are “borrowed” between departments in this tier are expected to be returned. Should they not be, the Head of Department (if present) is in charge of ensuring that the item does return. The Head of Department has the authority to ensure return of these items, and should only involve security with this matter if the borrowing party does not return the item on request.

An example: A member of Epistemics wishes to borrow a Kitchen Knife from the Kitchen. The scientist visits the kitchen, asks the chef for the knife, and in that moment the chef decides to pass it over. There is a Head of Personnel present, so the chef informs over the radio that the scientist has borrowed the knife with intent to return.

T2 Contraband:

Tier two items are items usually found within the Amory, Vault or within possession of the Heads of Department’s excluding the Captain’s items. These are items that are usually locked behind command access within departments. Anything on this list can be authorised for carry by personnel as long as it is authorised by a Head of Department, or someone with access to where that item is usually stored. Items on this list may be requested back by security at will and without a warrant, unless challenged by a written and signed licence provided by the Head of Department relevant to the item they are carrying.

Tier Two items are also inclusive of rival company’s items (such as syndicate war-gear) or dangerous items that have originated from outside of Nanotrasen space (such as blood-cult items) that are considered a threat to the company. These items are not permitted to be carried by any personnel, and must be secured within the Vault if discovered for collection by a Sweep team at the end of the shift. This does not include cosmetic or harmless items, such as corporate jackets or writing implements.

An example: A salvager wishes to take a Tier Two firearm onto a Salvage Mission after they have already completed a few prior to this situation. They have been clearly performing well, and showing that they’re responsible. They request with the Warden to access a Tier Two firearm for their next trip, which the Warden authorises on the premise that they check back in with security after each trip, and do not openly carry the weapon at any point outside of their department.

T3 Contraband:

Tier three items are items that should only ever be in the possession of Central Command, or the Captain. If non-authorised personnel are found in possession of Tier Three items, they are within immediate breach of the highest form of possession, and it should be a priority to ensure the recovery of these items. The Captain and/or Central Command Agents are within their right to pass authorisation of their items to another member of staff, however, they must ensure that it is recorded, signed and that Central are informed.

An example: The Captain wishes to delegate a member of the Head Team to looking after the Nuclear Authorisation Disk. After conversing with each Head of Department, they delegate the Chief Engineer to be in possession of the real disk, and thus must have a document stating this signed by each present Departmental Head, before it is sent to Central Command.
