Revision as of 16:47, 23 October 2025
On Space Station 14, stations operate under abbreviated space law. All crew, passengers, and visitors aboard the station are expected to follow these laws.
Foreign invaders, such as nuclear operatives, ninjas, and pirates, are not protected under space law. Traitors are not foreign invaders so they are usually protected by space law.
Designation of 'sentient being' does not automatically grant protections under Space Law. See the Rules of Engagement for what constitutes proper reasoning to instantly terminate a sentient being.
Crimes and Brig Time:
All crime falls into one of three categories:
- Harm to an Individual: Damage done specifically to individuals or their personal affects
- Harm to the Station: Structural damage to the station or it’s company provided assets, espionage, theft of company assets.
- Harm to the Company: Policy violations, threats to the chain of command, general disorderly conduct
Crimes involving sexual content are not listed. This is because no one should ever be involved in a scene that includes that or worse without their explicit consent and they should never have to hear about it if they didn't consent.
| Harm | Misdemeanor (Warning up to 5m) | Felony (10m) | Capital (Trial, 25m) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | Harassment, Petty Theft | Assault, Manslaughter | Kidnapping, Murder, Decorporealization, Mindbreaking |
| Station | Vandalism, Brandishing, Petty Theft, Trespass, Animal Cruelty, Slaughter of a Pet | Secure Trespass, Felony Theft, Endangerment, Sabotage, Murder of a Pet | Breach of Custody, Grand Theft, Terrorism, Hostage Taking |

Catch & Release
Taking the convict to Security, processing them, searching them, and then releasing them.
Demotion

Termination of the convict’s life without the intent of future resurrection. Whenever any execution is performed, regardless of trial or not, a general announcement must be made detailing who was executed and for what reason.
The convict may select from one of four methods of execution, depending on availability:
- Firing Squad
- Lethal Injection
- Electric Shock
- Asphyxiation.
If the convict does not make a choice after being given ample opportunity, the sentencing officer or other relevant authority may select the method that is most appropriate.
Convicts may request alternate methods of execution that may be approved or denied at the discretion of the individual passing the sentence. The executed corpse must be burned, stored in the morgue, or processed by medical staff using the biomass reclaimer.
Execution should only be considered for highly destructive, dangerous individuals who have caused immense damage, or who continue to pose a danger to the station. A player must consent before their body is burned, placed in the biomass reclaimer, or otherwise rendered permanently unrevivable.
Exfiltration
Immediate retrieval of the convict via a CentComm or GALPOL dispatched transport. The prisoner may be held in a temporary cell until the transport arrives. If a transport cannot be arranged, default to other capital sentences.
Preservative Stasis
Termination of the convict’s life with the expressed intent to perform a resurrection once the convict's body can be secured at Central Command. The convict's body is to be stored within a morgue or similar controlled and regulated environment to ensure the body does not rot or be destroyed.
Decorporealisation
Stripping the convict’s mind from their body into a more restricting form such as borgification.
Decorporealisation should only be considered for highly destructive, dangerous individuals who have caused immense damage, or who continue to pose a danger to the station. A player must consent before they are decorporealized.
Extended Confinement
Placing the convict into the brig until the end of the shift, where they are to be transported to Central Command for processing. The convict has the same rights as any other prisoner within the brig, whether they arrived by transport at start of shift or were sentenced to Extended Confinement.
Mindbreaking
Removal of the convict’s psionic power by use of Mindbreaker Toxin or any other means. May be applied when the convict is guilty of a capital crime in which they use psionics.
Mindbreaking should only be considered for highly destructive, dangerous individuals who have caused immense damage, or who continue to pose a danger to the station. Some individuals may experience severe long term side effects.
Pilotage Law
All pilots, trained or otherwise, of non-foreign invader shuttles are expected to follow pilotage law. Pilots not aligned with or hired by NT are required to announce their dock with the station. Pilots must fly slowly and exercise caution when docking. Pilots shall not use their vessel to intentionally ram or crash into another vessel or station.
