Marvin Clovers (he/him), also known as Marv, is a 29-year old Tajaran Nanotrasen employee. He nearly exclusively works as a Chef, known for his attention to detail, thorough and efficient work ethic, and a somewhat-unhealthy fixation on burgers and fast food.

Personality

Marv is a woman of routines and rigid habits, easily stressed out when unable to acquire the tools and materials he needs. He can come off as blunt and unsociable when he is focused on his work, often responding in short, flat answers while shuffling around his workspace. When engaged in sincere conversation, he has a loose and vulgar way of speaking, cynical with a slightly morbid sense of humor. Despite this, he still has some manners and tries to be polite to the people who thank him.

Sometimes Marvin's attitude, bursts of frustration, and bluntness can come off as dismissive or rude - his attempt to look like a "cool asshole". However, he fears genuinely upsetting people whom he respects, and in these occasions he tries to pay back his transgressions despite often having little to offer.

An astute observer would probably be able to identify Marv's rigid habits, blunt affect, insistent on eating/wearing/smoking the same thing every single day, inability to make eye contact, fixation on highly specific subjects (such as Hamburgers), and age-inappropriate attachment to cheap plastic toys as indicative of being on the Autism Spectrum, something that Marv is for some reason in heavy denial of.

Biography

Marvin was born on some planet yadda yadda not important I haven't thought much about it I don't care. He has been Visibly Autistic since a very young age that went largely ignored for a while.

He started stealing cigarettes from his parents around age 14 in order to cope with the stressors of school and home (and also just a little bit to look cool). When his parents eventually caught him, they gave him a Big Talking To and told him they refused to buy him cigarettes, which spurred Marvin to get his first part-time job not long after. Despite being a Habitual Smoker With A Job since he was a young teenager, Marvin barely passed and graduated (his regional equivalent of) high school.

Starting at a fairly young age, Marv found himself frustrated by the roles and expectations placed upon him in a way he could not explain. He started figuring out his sexuality around age 17 and never really stopped. From ages 21 to 25, he decided to transition and live fully as a man before eventually figuring out it didn't feel quite right, either. The years that followed came with varying levels of rocky introspection; even now Marv isn't quite sure what he wants, except for people to not make assumptions about him. He currently identifies as a bisexual "female guy".

From ages 18 to 27, Marvin worked at a place called Merrily Merrily, a combination fuel stop and diner for passing ships, built into the side of an asteroid. He was promoted from his cashier and restocking position to a diner chef at age 20, and became the manager of the establishment not long after. This experience was where Marv cultivated most of his cooking and management skills, as well as tight rapport between his small crew of employees.

He lost his job at Merrily Merrily when the establishment burned up and the owning company chose to liquidate the location and all of its assets instead of rebuilding it. Not long after, Marvin permanently ceased communication with his former employees and began to job search elsewhere.

Nanotrasen

At some point after his 29th birthday, Marv found a job at Nanotrasen. Unbeknownst to him, the company performed a background check on him that led to his employment officer talking to many of his former coworkers - to mostly positive feedback and a wish to reconnect with him, which was never relayed to him.

Marvin's shifts follow a certain pattern, both frustrating in their repetition and comforting in their familiarity to him - he smokes an entire pack while preparing lunchbox meals for the crew. His meals all follow the same formula - burger (with condiments), space fries, fresh fruit, a snack. Sometimes he adds chicken nuggets or a drink, and if given access to a Happy Honk machine, his meal boxes come with a toy. He works himself to the bone (despite nobody asking), crashes out over being overworked (despite nobody asking), and finds some tunnel or seating area to smoke the rest of his cigarettes.

Peer testimony has indicated that Marv's skills live up to the hype. His burgers are delicious and his meal boxes are refreshingly thorough. At one point, he has been given a medal by Head of Personnel Sam Nighteyes for his exemplary cooking skill and inclusive meal boxes, which Marvin has considered "bare minimum".

Marvin has a few exes he prefers not to talk about. His most recent one was probably his best and healthiest relationship - a former coworker of his he dated for a brief period of time after the lost his job. They split on good terms, having both mutually decided there wasn't a spark between them.

Trivia

Marvin, much like many of Portfiend's other characters, has been described as "an exaggeration of [its] own personality, traits, and interests".
He has a lisp.
Marvin has a genuine special interest in fast food. He used to run a personal blog where he reviewed various fast food restaurants and their limited time offers - this experience gives him an astounding ability to name restaurants that nobody has ever heard of.
He is quite proud of his ability to prepare xeno and carp meat safely - something he has actual experience and training in.
Marv's preferred cigarette is AcmeCo's.
Despite being really good at making burgers, fries, and meal box-sized cookies, Marv does not know how to prepare much of anything else.
Marv can often be seen hoarding all of his lunch boxes and taking them home after shifts - apparently, this ends up becoming his lunch and dinner for a few days.
He does not like psychiatrists.
If Marv's music taste was described in reference in the modern day, he would dislike "radio hits" pop music but enjoy "traditional pop" (pre-rock and roll pop music), like Mel Tormé and Frank Sinatra.
Port often roleplays Marvin with a set of "roleplay rules" that act as quirks of his personality.
- Marvin never throws his cigarettes in the trash intentionally; he finds it humiliating. If there are no nearby ashtrays, he throws them on the floor. He doesn't even seem to notice this.
- Marvin never holds a grudge past his next cigarette.
- He is not avoid smoking weed or drinking on the job, but he does not do harder drugs than this.
- Marvin never butchers a rotten corpse, and especially does not serve its byproducts to other people.
