Orders
Logistics members should approve orders made by individuals with legal access to the contents of their order.
- Orders may be delayed or denied due to low funds, questionable legality, or unreasonably excessive orders from the same department or individual.
- Orders that are deemed unrelated to the function of the station or safety of the crew may be delayed or given lower priority for purchase when funds are low.
- Requests to remedy material shortages should be handled as a high priority, without the need for an individual order.
- Orders for security weapons and armor should only be approved with an explicit request from a member of the security department.
Hazardous Item Handling
Orders and sales that involve items that are potentially dangerous (including but not limited to: weapons, toxic or flammable gas canisters, chemicals, and artifacts) should be treated as a high priority, and kept secure within the Logistics department until they are sold, delivered, or picked up by the individual or department that ordered it.
Artifacts must be transported inside a locked containment unit.
Salvage Procedures
Salvage Weaponry
Because of the requirement for their work, Salvage workers operate with a T2 contraband license that covers most smaller firearms, armor, and hardsuits. This does not legally cover anything larger than a Universal or Python.
Salvagers are not to distribute their weaponry to non-salvagers without explicit LO approval.
Conscription Kits
Salvagers can acquire a Conscription Kit, which may be used to equip new salvagers hired by the Logistics Officer. Only passengers, or non-command Individuals may be hired, who must receive permission from their departmental head before conscription as a salvager. Once an individual has been hired, they must have their original ID changed to the position of salvager by the LO or Commanding Officer.
Active Workplace Salvaging
Before executing salvaging of any active workplace or area inhabited by sentient beings, including rival company area(s), you must confirm with and receive direct permission from your commanding officer. You must act in accordance with space law at all times. Failure to do so may lead to consequences including termination of contract, criminal charges, and brig time.
Radio Contact
Salvage specialists should check in with the station regularly, usually through the use of a handheld radio if they are outside the reach of normal radio communication. The Logistics Officer, if present, should be the main point of contact for salvage specialists. If the LO is unavailable or unable to maintain radio contact, ensure that someone else on the station is listening before leaving the station for dangerous destinations.
Shuttle Usage
Pilots must fly their shuttle slowly when near the station or the automated trade station. When docking, pilots must exercise caution and keep their speed low enough to avoid damage.
When crew are lost in space near the station, the logistics shuttles will be used for search and rescue operations unless the station has access to other shuttles. All reasonable efforts to recover lost crew should be made, including requesting long range scans from CentComm, and sweeping space near their last known location. If the search is deemed hopeless, the Logistics Officer or Commanding Officer may call off the search at their discretion, but should send a missing crew report with all relevant information to CentComm.
ID locked mail is considered the property of the station. Intentionally damaging or mishandling it may constitute vandalism, even if the individual damaging the mail is the intended recipient of the mail.
Rescue Operations
The Logistics Officer is expected to regularly check on the well-being of their salvagers, generally through the use of a handheld radio if the salvagers are operating outside standard radio range. Should salvagers transmit a distress message or fail to check in or respond to check ins for an extended period, the Logistics Officer is in charge of organizing a search and rescue operation to recover the salvagers when possible.
