Certain roles can be prone to multiple SOPs at once, due to being related to multiple departments or having a job wholly different than their department. These are considered Specialized Operating Procedures These include the Corpsman, the Mantis, and the Chaplain.
Specializations
Corpsman
The corpsman is a member of the security team whose primary duty is to tend to security personnel injured in the line of duty. They may also act as a security officer, provided it does not conflict with their primary responsibilities. They must follow both Security Operating Procedures and Medical Operating Procedures.
Non-security patients in critical condition may be treated to prevent loss of life if no doctors are immediately available. Further medical care should only be provided if requested by the Chief Medical Officer or other medical staff.
During combat situations, the medical care and rescue of security personnel take priority.
Chaplain
The Chaplain is expected to study the Oracle, run sermons, and provide spiritual care to those onboard the station who may request it. They are not a regular member of epistemics in this regard. They should not be handling regular epistemics work when other epistemics staff are available unless absolutely necessary, or the Mystagogue has permitted it.
Mantis
The Mantis is intended to handle psychics and psychic-related issues. They should not be considered a regular member of epistemics in this regard. They should not be handling regular epistemics work when other epistemics staff are available unless absolutely necessary, or the Mystagogue has permitted it.
